Job Description

QLS has a 6-month contract opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer to join the Finance team. Our Finance team supports the organisation by providing accurate, efficient and customer-focused services across financial management, compliance and reporting. We're seeking an experienced payroll professional with strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and end-to-end payroll processing. In this role, you'll deliver accurate and compliant fortnightly payroll across two entities, while helping us build and shape a new in-house payroll function. Experience with KeyPay is highly valued.

 

In this role you will:

  • Process accurate and timely fortnightly payroll across two entities, including new starters, variations, leave, superannuation and terminations
  • Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, awards, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and Single Touch Payroll requirements
  • Prepare payroll journals, reconciliations and reports to support Finance, P&C and management decision-making
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures, process notes and documentation to support a robust in-house payroll function
  • Support the Finance Manager to transition payroll services in-house, including system setup, testing, process mapping and go-live activities using KeyPay

 

Ideally you will have the following:

  • Proven experience running end-to-end payroll, ideally across multiple entities
  • Confident using KeyPay, with the know-how to configure and optimise the system
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll compliance super, PAYG, payroll tax and STP
  • A track record of supporting payroll transitions or process improvements
  • A proactive, detail-focused mindset and the ability to keep cool under deadlines
