QLS has a Full-Time, Permanent opportunity for a Network and Systems Officer to join our Information Technology Operations team within the Operations Division.
Our IT Operations team looks after the technology QLS relies on every day, from our Microsoft cloud environment and network through to cyber security and the systems that keep our people connected. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, you'll play an important part in caring for that environment and keeping it running smoothly for the people who use it.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone early in their IT career who is curious, eager to learn, and looking for a supportive place to grow. You'll build well rounded foundations across cloud, network, identity and security, contribute to Level 2 and Level 3 support alongside our team, and over time grow into deeper involvement across Azure, cyber security and infrastructure. The work is varied, hands-on and genuinely developmental, and you'll be supported and mentored every step of the way.
In this role you will:
- Help care for QLS's Microsoft 365 and Azure environment, including identity (Microsoft Entra ID) and endpoint management (Microsoft Intune).
- Support our enterprise network and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) environment, and help look after our core infrastructure, including servers, backups and endpoints.
- Contribute to cyber security and identity work, including monitoring, access reviews and helping uphold the ACSC Essential Eight together with our managed security partner.
- Be part of an AI-forward environment, learning alongside the team as we thoughtfully roll out Microsoft Copilot and use AI-assisted tools across support, operations and security.
- Support onboarding, offboarding and access provisioning, care for our Microsoft Teams Rooms, AV and building-security environment, and partner with the service desk to gently uplift Level 2 and Level 3 support over time.
Ideally you will have the following:
- Around 3+ years of experience, or genuine aptitude and interest, supporting a Microsoft environment (Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Intune and networking).
- A genuine interest in cyber security fundamentals and the ACSC Essential Eight, and an curiosity in growing your knowledge in this space.
- A relevant qualification (e.g. TAFE Certificate IV / Diploma or a University Degree in Information Technology or a related field), or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Progress toward, or an interest in obtaining, foundational certifications such as AZ-900 (Azure Fundamentals), SC-900 (Security, Compliance and Identity Fundamentals) and AB-900 (Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals), and ITIL 4 Foundation is warmly welcomed.
- A considered approach to working through issues, with the confidence to ask questions, share ideas and escalate when needed.
- Warm, clear communication and a genuinely collaborative approach, comfortable working together with the team and on your own initiative.
- Exposure to Ubiquiti UniFi, backup platforms (Veeam / Azure Backup) or workload migration to Azure will be well regarded, though not essential.
