Are you a storyteller who thrives at the intersection of journalism and corporate communications? Do you have a passion for legal news and a knack for engaging diverse audiences?
QLS is seeking a journalist/senior writer to join our team. In this role, you'll be a key player in delivering high-quality content for Proctor, our flagship digital news site, and ensuring that our members stay informed, educated, and engaged.
In this role you will:
- Write, edit, and report on legal news, legislative reforms, court decisions, and more.
- Develop content strategies that align with QLS’s communications and advocacy priorities.
- Create compelling multimedia content and contribute to the growth and engagement of our audience.
- Build and sustain strong networks across the legal sector.
- Balance editorial integrity with the needs of a member organisation that serves the public good.
Ideally you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in journalism, communication, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in journalism or a senior writing role.
- A nuanced understanding of working within a member-based or professional organisation.
- Strong writing, editing, and proof-reading skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to navigate the dynamics of the legal and political landscape in Queensland.
- Experience with digital content management systems (e.g., WordPress) is a plus.
