QLS has a casual opportunity for a Law Clerk (minimum 3 days per week) to join the Society's Ethics and Practice Centre Team. The QLS Ethics and Practice Centre team provides practical legal ethics support to the profession, offering a variety of support services aimed at reducing professional conduct issues and risks faced by all legal practices, helping to uphold the highest standards of the legal profession.
Join the QLS Ethics and Practice Centre team to help promote ethical and effective legal practice. In this role, you’ll provide verbal guidance to legal professionals, deliver tailored ethics sessions, create helpful resources, and support firms through practice advisory visits.
In this role you will:
- Undertake a high level of legal research across a broad range of areas to identify and succinctly summarise key issues.
- Undertake research and organisation of briefing material for the Centre’s Committees.
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the ethics and advisory team.
- Support projects and initiatives that promote high standards of legal practice.
- Assist with correspondence and document management.
Ideally you will have the following:
- Strong research, writing and organisational skills and the ability to identify and summarise key issues.
- High attention to detail and a demonstrated interest in professional standards and ethics
- Ability to use initiative and tact in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and manage competing priorities.
- Knowledge of (or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of) writing for the web and undertaking basic website content updates.
- Competency in the use of modern office technology, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and record management applications.
Our ideal candidate will be studying towards a relevant qualification in law (having completed at least 1-2 full-time years or the equivalent).
